Haifa - Healthy and active city confrence event was held at the MadaTech museum.

On 06/06/2012 MadaTech – Israel's National Museum of Science held a conference event as part of the municipal project: Haifa - a healthy active city, attended by citizens representing various sectors of the community who want to be actively involved in improving their quality of life. The purpose of the conference was to promote the long-term plan for the project.

Madatech CEO, Dr. Ronen Mir who opened the conference noted that compared to other cities Haifa leads in the percentage of people holding academic degrees and in the percentage of those involved in education. He noted that MadaTech staff will help as much as possible to advance the project. This project is a multi-year operational plan led by the Haifa Municipality in cooperation with public officials, academics, employers and professionals, aims to promote active and healthy lifestyles for all residents of the city, people who come to work in the city and of populations with special needs.This comprehensive approach includes: encouraging work places to promote their workers health, improving accessibility and availability of sports facilities and healthy foods to all population groups and educational intervention from pre-school. During the conference, work teams were discussed ways of implementing the program in the varied areas.The teams submitted proposals for action plans.
